You may ignore preferences

When rules are broken, respond every time

Be consistent

Ask yourself, “Am I able and willing to follow through with what I am about to say?”

If you do not mean it, do not say it

Get everyone on board

Share educational resources

Talk about rules privately

Do not scold your partner, especially in front of your child

Look for opportunities to support other caregivers

Your child’s behavior will improve quickly if they know that no one allows bad behavior
